Tunesday Adds: London Grammar, Sufjan Stevens & More

Every week, RPM updates Tunesday, our new global music playlist. Check out this week’s adds below!

This week’s Tunesday adds are headlined by some new tunes from some old favorites. UK trio London Grammar have returned with “Baby It’s You,”  their first new song since their spectacular 2017 album Truth is a Beautiful Thing. And while no full album announcement has come yet from LG, we did get a new taste of Sufjan Stevens’ forthcoming LP, “The Ascension.” The Michigan native follows up his epic protest song “America” with “Video Game,” a brooding, synth-laden critique of our approval-driven modern landscape.

From the Australian contingent, we’ve got “San Francisco,” the charming finale off Alex the Astronaut‘s triumphant debut LP, The Theory of Absolutely Nothing. The Sydney singer-songwriter has a knack for telling stories, but it’s her command of melody that makes this track our favorite off the album. We’ve also got a new track from Adelaide rockers and old friends TOWNS, who continue to make nostalgic punk-tinged rock and roll that hits us right in our sweet spot.

From South Africa, we’ve got new ones from folk upstart Manu Grace, as well as hip hop icon Spoek Mathambo. Heading over to Chile, we’ve got an earworm from superstar Francisca Valenzuela that’s sure to have you dancing. And what’s more, we’ve also got a dark, synthwave-inspired track from Hamburg, Germany locals Krakow Loves Adana that’s a must listen for any Sisters of Mercy fans out there.

Finishing up back in the United States, we’ve got the latest track from Apsáalooke rapper Supaman. The Crow Agency, Montana native is a part of a burgeoning underground Native American hip hop scene that deserves your attention. And last but certainly not least, we’ve got a track off Blush, the debut LP from New York City’s own Maya Hawke. Fans of Andy Shauf and Aldous Harding should absolutely get around this one–it’s a damn delight.

That’s it for this week’s adds, we hope you enjoy and find something new to love!
