Celebrate the Summer of Soccer with These Tournament-Themed Playlists

The summer of 2021 will not just be remembered as #VaxxedGirlSummer, but as the summer that saw an unprecedented number of major soccer tourneys happening in quick succession. The COVID-related postponement of Euro 2020 meant that the Euros, Copa América AND the Gold Cup happened in the same summer for the first time ever, leaving fans of the beautiful game to rejoice the world over in a show of post-pandemic gratitude. And being big fans of soccer ourselves, we’re honoring the #SummerOfSoccer the way only we can: through music! Dig into these custom playlists reflecting some of our favorite tracks from each country represented at these three tournaments.

Euro 2020

Euro 2020 delivered all the excitement that the globetrotting tournament promised–only a year late! Italy took home their first Euro title since 1968, beating England in the final in a decisive penalty shootout at London’s own Wembley Stadium. Feel-good favorites Denmark made the semifinals, upstarts Austria and Ukraine surprised, and countries like Finland and North Macedonia made their first appearances at the Euros.

Copa América

Magic for Messi! The world’s greatest player finally won an international title as Argentina beat rivals Brazil in a thrilling 1-0 final to win their first Copa since 1993. Colombia and Peru rounded out the semifinals in a tournament that saw all 10 South American nations participate.

CONCACAF Gold Cup

The United States and Mexico renewed their rivalry in the 2021 Gold Cup final, a tournament featuring teams from North and Central America, plus special guests Qatar, who made the semifinals. Non-sovereign nations like Guadeloupe and Martinique feature on this playlist, as does South American CONCACAF member Suriname!
